Dili, 9 September 2026 – The Governing Board of Banco Central de Timor-Leste (BCTL) officially granted a Level C bank license to Banco Kaebauk, S.A., authorizing its operation within Timor-Leste. This decision was predicated upon a thorough review of the application submitted to BCTL in February 2025, which demonstrated compliance with all requisite legal regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, the qualifications of its administrators, the financial capabilities of its shareholders, and a business plan founded upon sound and realistic assumptions. The establishment of this newly licensed institution is anticipated to stimulate economic growth and foster heightened competition within the Timor-Leste banking sector, thereby expanding access to banking services for the population and encouraging the banking industry's contribution to the nation's reconstruction and development efforts.
