Signing of the MoU

On 25 September 2026, Bank Indonesia (BI) and Banco Central de Timor-Leste (BCTL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the areas of payment systems and digital financial innovation. The MoU was signed by the Governor of Bank Indonesia, Destry Damayanti, and the Governor of BCTL, Hélder Lopes, during the Festival Ekonomi Keuangan Digital Indonesia (FEKDI) x Indonesia Fintech Summit and Expo (IFSE) 2026 in Jakarta.

The MoU provides a framework for strengthening cooperation between the two central banks, including exploring payment connectivity and cross-border payments between Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
